I sit here trying to think of things to write. My work clothes are drying, and I am fresh out of ideas. I look up to the battery life on my laptop. Thankful that batteries last as long as they do.
My first laptop back in 2004 lasted about 35-50 minutes on the battery I had. I saved up 500$ from birthdays and Christmas to buy it second hand. I was 14 years old; a new battery back then was in the hundreds of dollars. Which I spent on the laptop. Plus I spent most of my money on the laptop.
The point is, batteries were so expensive back then, and the different chemistries were doing favors for no one. Which again makes me Thankful. I have been using one charge on my laptop for the last 4 days. Each night doing a couple of hours of listening to music, YouTube, and writing nothing in particular.
It amazes me, how far, Batteries have come in the scheme of things. Think about it… my car travels over three hundred miles per one charge. A Tesla Semi truck, fully loaded mind you, can go over five hundred miles. That includes going over the Grapevine in California. Check it out for yourself if you do not believe me.
It’s not only transportation that batteries have changed things for. The power grid is another place where you see the magnitude of change in batteries. Once unthinkable, a battery, mind you a big battery, is acting as a power plant in the times of peak demand in Australia, and now other places too. In Australia, just in one day, batteries saved customers 14 million in energy costs due to network failure. (https://hornsdalepowerreserve.com.au/consumer-benefits/ )
Thanks to, in this case, a Tesla Mega Pack Battery installation, the consumers didn’t experience a blackout and did not have to suffer from the situation.
Its technology like this that gives me hope for my version of a Greener Future, not just less reliance on fossil fuels, but the hopeful lack of need for them. If we could manage to see the benefit of having an abundance of renewable energy, storage assets, and management software; we as a species just might be capable of great things.
By shifting away from a consumption-based model of energy, which forces different factions of the human species to war for resources. We could shift to a means of Production through renewable generation. We need abundance to have peace, at the basic unit of our society. Energy.
The road is long. I don’t see why we couldn’t transform fossil fuel territories into behemoths of green energy. The time for transition is happening every day. We just need to act, and just start doing, correcting along the way.
Much like me jabbering on about nothing in particular. Circling back, it comes down to the solution I had this evening when I sat down to write this. I started out a bit rough and corrected along the way.
Sometimes you just need to start. Put forth the effort. It’s what is so cool about humans. We can choose to pursue; we understand that the more you look the more you can find. It’s about giving yourself a moment to be bored, so your brain has a second to be inspired.
We are constantly bombarding our brains with YouTube (guilty), social media (guilty) or the Mainstream Media engines, or Apple News or Google News.
Sometimes we need to give our mind, our internal world and universe a moment to process. Make connections or see patterns.
It’s one way I got good at going to sleep. I so look forward to that moment of laying down on the pillow. It’s like sitting down in a theater. It’s where I get to do nothing but be entertained at what my brain throws at me.
It’s important to remember that your brain is in the 3d dimension. The mind is in what I think of as the 4th dimension. It works for me at least. It allows me to be a spectator to my thoughts. I always go in the with Mentality of curiosity. Curiosity keeps me in a state of observation. Reducing the effects of various thoughts.
Especially when it comes to work. Or something that bothered me. Seeing it through the perspective of curiosity allows me to not get worked up. I stay relaxed, the thought goes away, and I fall asleep.
Much like the direction of this conversation. I sound patronizing and that’s not what I want, but I already wrote it and that’s how this works.
It’s important to let your brain go off on tangents, much like that last one there. I try and save those for when I am going to bed.
But much like everything else we try to do in life, focus matters. That diet, or exercise regimen, or the better option, in my opinion of course, is a lifestyle change.
Letting your brain go off on a tangent lets it complete its cycle, and if you observe it and give it attention it will go away and make way for new ideas to pop up. New connections.
Much like the way I tied that tangent back into the essay.
Now I am not saying to give up all the content you may or may not be honest with yourself, about how much you consume.
We could all do with a little quiet time. Sometimes, if I have a really busy mind, I think of things I appreciate, no matter how small. It almost always starts with my dog. I don’t deserve her love. I know she is happy, but I am always seeking the betterment of what I do for those around me and myself.
So, I appreciate her, and what I can do for her, and what I do for me, and my husband. Nothing specific, not at first anyway, but as I continue to list different topics I get more specific, which always puts me in a good mood.
My mind always calms after that. I have worked hard to make good of what life has given me. No matter the challenge. They have all been nothing but opportunities.
It’s why we as a society of humans across the globe connected by so many technologies. Have an opportunity to change the way we do things on a fundamental level. Which is difficult for us, because we already don't like to change. It's why I am excited that batteries are making a wave of change. it's making it difficult to ignore, saving people money, preventing human hardship, and providing others opportunity!
I studied economics in school, don't worry it's not another tangent, but incentives are a very powerful tool when it comes to economic actors, i.e., Consumers, businesses. And in this case making and or saving money is a definite incentive for people. It allows us to focus, instead of having to expend energy to get resources for energy, we can instead direct that to other solutions we are attempting; other problems in our focus; other goals we have in mind.
Because humans, often incapable of just being, have difficulty with doing things that are good for all. I think we are getting there! But we have a little bit of a way to go. So, I'm also thankful to Elon Musk for providing one of the biggest incentives for the capitalist way of life we so live by. Profits.
Because of profits, we will start to see the wave happen! The motivation for change is becoming ever more present, across multiple sectors of the economy. It's a literal fundamental change that is happening right before our very eyes. We'll look back to now and ask ourselves how we didn't see it happening. But the history books will explain it like it was common knowledge.
It's why I like change in my life, and my goal is to be good at it. I don't always do well, but I do put forth the effort. I try and spend a little time and focus each day on something positive that I want to change in my life and for others, time never stops.
So, if I need to change something in the present, or in my future, or because I don't like it in my past, then it needs to happen during the now. I have this math meme that I look at all the time. It's a comparison between doing nothing at all and doing small consistent efforts. Each of those sentences can be described by a math equation.
The first one being. Doing nothing at all, is 1 to the 365th power, which equals one. Then there's the second part of this, which is making a small consistent effort. Which, mathematically, is represented by 1.01 in the 2nd equation. Just .01 more than in the first equation. Or another way of thinking; one penny out of $1.
The solution to the math problem 1.01 to the 365th power equals 37.7! It's special because it's a mathematical way of representing how easy it is to accomplish something with small consistent efforts. One penny! You can literally find that on the ground. What is your excuse?
just start, whatever it is. Do not wait, time is passing by, now! It waits for no one. You are important, take some time for yourself, get bored and let your brain transform your life!
Here are some Images that I created. Let me know if you have any ideas or topics you would like me to talk about!
